The aim of the Trust being improving the face of rural India, particularly in the fields of Health, Education, Employment (by skill up-gradation), Human Development & Welfare, Women & Child Development, and also Cattle Care. The Trust has undertaken several welfare activities in that direction. An account of activities of the Trust, are as follows.

Healthcare

On the health front, the Trust runs a Rural Health Centre where a full-time physician, Gynecologist and four paramedical staff along with lab technicians serve the patients. Investigations are done for patients and necessary treatment is given. Apart from providing Allopathic treatment, expertise is available here in Homeopathy and Ayurveda.

The Trust runs a Dental hospital as well. Since its establishment in 2006, many patients received treatment. All of them received dental treatment and medicines, free of charge. Dental hygiene & awareness is also imparted in the surrounding villages.

An Eye Hospital in association with L.V. Prasad Eye Institute (Hyderabad), is run in the Campus at Nellore. On an average, four surgeries are performed here every day. Medicines are given free for those who undergo operations.

Mobile Gramodaya is a facility that is equipped with all the resources required for a medical centre, tele-medicine etc. This facility is run in partnership with Nellore Jayabharath Hospitals and Red Cross Society to ensure greater accessibility.

Medical camps are conducted every month for the last 16 years engaging specialist doctors drawn from some of the renowned hospitals such as Global, Kamineni, Star, Rainbow, Medwin, Vijaya, and Care Hospitals etc., in Chennai, Hyderabad and other places. The local Red Cross and Indian Medical Association (IMA) join the Trust in conducting medical camps regularly. The Trust also runs a mobile medical unit with modern medical facilities such as x-rays, clinical lab, pathological lab etc.

Education

Bridge Residential School: Under this initiative, the Trust warmly invites into its fold, the children who have lost their childhood by being child laborers in the towns and villages. The Trust has established a Residential Bridge School within its campus. Every year around 100 children are receiving education outside their regular schools, in Swarna Bharat Trust schools.

The Bridge School program identifies the school drop-outs. They bring educational awareness to the parents of such children. Children between the ages of 8 - 14 are trained according to their levels of awareness on education. The Children of Swarna Bharat Bridge School are treated with utmost love and care by the teachers that they continue their education at the Bridge Residential School without worrying about their home. Five teachers, one care-taker, one mobilizer, and two cooks take special care of these children throughout the day.

The awards that Bridge school is bestowed with are the touch stones for its style of work and delivery. Children, after completing their education in this school have continued to study at other colleges including engineering colleges.

Akshara Vidyalaya: Another notable initiative by the Trust is this national level school, where medium is English, but culture is Indian. It is established with a motive of providing quality education to the students belonging to rural areas at an affordable cost. The infrastructure created is of international standards, and the tuition fee is lower than the fee charged by corporate schools.

Swarna Bharati Vidya Mandir: With an intention to reach out to the small-scale farmers and low income group of surrounding villages of Venkatachalam, the Swarna Bharat Trust has started another school with State syllabus - Swarna Bharati Vidya Mandir. A nominal fee of Rs.6400/- is charged per Child/ per annum; the Trust also provides them with two sets of uniform, socks & shoes, books, and Mid-day meal, etc., free of cost to all the 300 plus students.

Swarna Bharat- Knowledge Center: To fuel the curiosity of children studying in Zilla Parishad (Government & Municipal) schools, the Trust provides Lab facility for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer education and also spoken English. The Trust also provides Medical, Eye, and Dental checkups along with transport from their respective schools.

Skill Development & Employment

The Swarna Bharat Institute of Rural Entrepreneurship Development (SIRED) was established to impart Training to enhance self-employment opportunities to men and women in 17 different technical Trades/ repair and servicing around Television, Air-conditioner, Motor Rewinding, Cell Phone mechanism, Refrigerators, Tailoring, Fashion Technology, Computer Hardware and Software etc. Swarna Bharat Trust provides free training. All the trainees are provided boarding & lodging facilities free of cost during training period.

The Trust in association with the GMR Foundation and Andhra Bank is making relentless efforts in the direction of rural empowerment by identifying self employment avenues and imparting suitable skill training to the needy people. The beneficiaries of SIRED can be seen in every nook and corner of Nellore district. Andhra Bank gives loan to the trainees to become self employed.

Swarna Bharat – Soma Institute of Technical Training: This is another significant initiative of the Swarna Bharat Trust. This institute was established on the tenth anniversary of the Trust, and is aimed at providing Technical Training and creating sustainable livelihood programs for the rural unemployed youth who are constrained by low income, inadequate skills, un-employment, and absence of opportunities for training & development/ financial ability/ bargaining power at economic and social levels.

The infrastructure includes state-of-The-Art Technical Training Institute to run training in Civil Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer & Information, Services and other commercial trades for providing sustainable livelihood opportunities for the aspirants. During the free training period, all the trainees are provided with free boarding & lodging facilities. It accommodates 300 trainees for ten Channels of different training programs for each schedule.

Cyber Grameen: The objective of this initiative is to effectively utilize “Information Technology” in rural areas to herald a social change and economic advancement with support of Atul Nishar Foundation. Cyber Grameen provides, among other things, tele-education, banking, insurance and medical services, video conferencing, digital theater, and agriculture related information and services etc., by enlisting the services of various IT companies. Many rural youth have received software training in various courses such as DTP, MS Office, Web Designing, Tally C, C++, etc. Students are also provided with free course material.

Swashakthi: Job oriented training is provided to rural youth under the joint social initiative of Swarna Bharat Trust and SEW Foundation. Established in 2010, Swashakti is making focused efforts in this direction by providing job oriented training in the fields of IT, Hospitality, and Accounting free of cost along with training in soft skills.

Women Welfare

The Trust has established a Training Centre for Women to become self-employed. The Trust also has a modern auditorium with tele-education, tele-medicine, video conferencing, digital theatre facilities where, audio-visual educational programs on rural development, community development, health, cleanliness and other social programs are shown.

Farmer Welfare & Cattle Care

The Trust runs a training centre for farmers, which conducts programs on the usage of pesticides, nutrition, micro-irrigation, cultivation of new varieties of crops, medicinal plants, and new technology in farming to enhance yield etc.

A free Veterinary Hospital is also run by the Trust which conducts camps, artificial insemination programs, vaccination, distribution of medicines, and also conducts training programs for farmers. Services of mobile veterinary medical unit are also provided without any charge.

Welfare Activities

Elders’ Home: Understanding the need to lend emotional support to the elders, Swarna Bharat Trust in association with Bollineni Foundation has established an Elders’ Home equipped with all facilities for elders. It is a home away from home for the elders. Their health related issues are very well taken care of. Television and library have been provided to the residents, to cater to their entertainment & spiritual needs.

The Trust conducts an annual Prathibha Puraskar Function, for boys & girls with a rural background who secure first & second ranks. They are also awarded with merit certificates and cycles.

The Trust has a huge “Kalyana Mandapam” (Function Hall) where marriages are performed along with social and cultural events.

The Trust also conducts “awareness camps” where interaction of the legal experts with villagers is arranged, and free legal aid is provided.
